Missionaries & National Workers
The largest of the Central American nations, Nicaragua has long suffered a tumultuous political history. After many years of foreign intervention, coupled with decades of rule by self-serving dictators, both right-wing and communist, genuinely free elections were finally held in the year 1990 and a window of opportunity was opened for the long-suffering populace. Accompanying the political liberties was the freedom to proclaim the gospel of Christ without fear of persecution or imprisonment. In 1991, a young Honduran man named Oscar began to travel to Nicaragua on weekends seeking to take advantage of the opportunity to freely share Christ with the people. The Lord prospered Oscar’s labors with many coming to salvation in Christ and growing in faith and spiritual maturity. Oscar’s efforts came through considerable personal sacrifice, but in spite of these trials, Oscar’s faith and determination never wavered. The example of his steadfastness became known in other churches and within a few years, eight other young couples felt the Lord calling them to follow in the same path. Each of those couples went out with no assurance of financial support from anyone. They would depend solely on God and His promises. Each family passed through a similar period of testing and resting in God’s provision and each found God to be sufficient and able. The current Honduran missionaries in Nicaragua are serving in various locations throughout that nation, and while ultimately each missionary family looks to God alone for the supply of their needs, it is also true that God has granted us the privilege of being a channel of His provision. It is a great privilege indeed to support those who have placed their trust in the Lord to sustain them.

At BCAM we believe that the goal for missions is to fully indigenize the Lord’s work. To that end, we have provided training for the national missionaries consisting of thorough instruction in evangelistic and pastoral ministry in addition to providing a strong foundation in the Bible, in order that the missionaries might, as the apostle Paul put it, “commit these (teachings) to faithful men who will be able to teach others also”. (2 Timothy 2:2).

Oscar & Evelyn Altamirano
Honduran Missionaries to Nicaragua since 2018
"Because of a tragic scandal, we found the little church in the town in which we settled to be leaderless and discouraged. We have sought to give direction and renewed vigor to the Christians and have been encouraged by what God is doing and are looking forward to seeing much fruit as we reach out to others in this frontier town."

Juan Carlos & Reyna Amaya
Honduran Missionaries to Nicaragua since 2023
"Our purpose is to support the efforts of our Christian brothers in evangelizing and discipling. If the Lord allows it, we desire to plant new churches and raise up godly men to lead in these congregations."

Josue & Jenny Castillo
Honduran Missionaries to Nicaragua since 2008
"We live in León, Nicaragua where we serve the Lord in the local church. In addition, we minister in a barrio called Concepción de María. There we preach the gospel. In that barrio we have a group of about forty children of different ages who come to our children’s Bible classes."

Luis & Mariela Gutierrez
Honduran Missionaries to Nicaragua since 2010
"Our ministry consists of outreach to children and youth in an area of north Managua called Anexo Miraflores Batahola. Besides organizing youth meetings and children’s events, we daily work with the parents of the children with the goal of leading them to Christ. Our desire is to continue working in areas of Managua and to see churches established and people saved."

Maximiliano & Dolores Hernandez
Honduran Missionaries to Nicaragua since 2002
"We’ve been ministering to the Lord’s people in León, Nicaragua where we dedicate ourselves to evangelizing and teaching the Word of God, particularly to children in the area. God has granted us the privilege of seeing many come to Christ. We are thankful to have seen a church well-established in León and are now reaching out to a new area of the city."

Samir & Maryuri Jimenez
Honduran Missionaries to Nicaragua since 2007
"Our ministry, in the city of Estelí in a barrio called La Comuna, is directed toward preaching the gospel, discipling new believers, and seeing them mature in Christ. By the Lord’s grace we have seen a small church planted and growing. Once the church is well established we hope to move on to yet another area of the city."

Kerli & Hefzy Mejia
Honduran National Workers since 2012
Kerli and Hefzi live in Talanga, where they focus on children’s ministry, having gained access to the public schools where they share the gospel with hundreds of students weekly, and regular Bible studies with the local police recruits and officers. They are also overseeing the construction of a local church, as they previously held services in their own home.

Deybin & Wendy Pineda
Nicaraguan National Workers
"Since the church at El Faro was established, we have been helping in evangelism and discipleship. Recently we have moved to El Jocote, a small community a few kilometers to the north of Estelí, to minister in the nascent church there. In addition to evangelization, we have children’s groups and work with the youth."

Israel & Flor Ramos
Honduran Missionaries to Nicaragua since 2001
"Since arriving in Nicaragua we have been involved in church planting, discipleship, and shepherding. After helping to establish a church in Estelí, we have been working in an area called El Jocote, where we have seen another small church planted."

Daniel & Ruth Rodriguez
Honduran Missionaries to Nicaragua since 2008
"Many young people have left Ocotal in search of better opportunities in the city, but thanks be to God the local church remains constant and active. We work primarily with children and young people, teaching them the Word of God. We have three bible programs in different parts of Ocotal in addition to our youth outreach and discipleship. We have also been working with young people in a community to the north of Ocotal."

Sigfredo & Joselin Rojas
Honduran Missionaries to Nicaragua since 2010
"We minister by going door-to-door sharing the gospel as well as through evangelistic campaigns. In addition, Sigfredo preaches in the local church and in a small community called Pacayitas. Our desire is to continue serving the Lord here until the church is well established but our goal is to continue with church planting efforts in even further areas of Nicaragua.
